Tea Party Fort Lauderdale Press Release | January 10th, 2015

Ted Cruz & Scott Walker Victors, Bush & Christie Not So Lucky

Tea Party Fort Lauderdale, America’s Longest Running Weekly Tea Party, announces the results of our recently held Presidential Straw Poll/Survey. On Saturday January 3rd, at our 305th consecutive weekly gathering, an Open Forum was held where all participants had a voice in discussing the pros and cons of possible 2016 Presidential Candidates. It was then followed by our poll/survey. The discussion was energetic and educational. The next day we opened up the poll/survey to our TPFTL e-mail list around the country and continued collecting the results through Tuesday morning.

Senator Ted Cruz (TX) and Governor Scott Walker (WI) by far were the most popular in the poll, where Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and Governor Chris Christie (NJ) had the highest negative ratings. Former U.S. Congressman and Tea Party favorite Allen West polled well, and as always, was a hot topic as many anxiously await his return to political office somewhere.

Senator Cruz won 46% of the 1st Place Votes while Governor Walker took both the 2nd and 3rd Place polls. On the negative poll question Governor Bush took 64% of the 1st Place heat and Governor Christie took 2nd and 3rd Place in the same poll. TPFTL’s Presidential Straw Poll was weighted as the three choices received the following - 1st Choice = 4 Points / 2nd Choice = 2 Points / 3rd Choice = 1 Point.

TPFTL challenges other tea parties, 9/12 groups, conservative clubs, grassroots organizations, etc., around the nation to hold their own straw poll/survey. We believe it is imperative to not only poll the up vote as in question #1, but the down vote as shown in our question #2.  We also held a survey (questions 3-10) to find out where our group lines up on other issues.

News sources or other tea party/grassroots organizations wanting more information can contact Tea Party Fort Lauderdale co-founders Jack Gillies or Danita Kilcullen at TeaPartyFTL@gmail.com .
